Company culture may seem to be little more than just the latest business buzzword, but it’s central to your fulfillment and satisfaction in any workplace. A strong culture becomes even more critical in a franchise system, where each owner embodies the values, vision and identity behind the brand. Essentially, the culture is the fabric that ties each franchise location within a national or international system together.

This is why it’s so important to make sure your personal values align with the overarching culture and mission of the brand in which you invest. After all, how can you represent and promote a business you don’t believe in?

We’ve worked hard to create an admirable culture at Fit Body Boot Camp, and we make sure that every franchisee we add to our system helps bolster our brand identity.

Here’s more on the culture at Fit Body Boot Camp and why it’s an asset to attracting and retaining top talent and loyal gym members:

The Vision and Values Guiding Our Fitness Franchise Brand

Strategic vision and values are fundamental in driving the future of any brand. Our overarching culture centers on our mission to inspire fitness and change lives every day. This is all done in a positive environment, where every team member has a voice, as well as the power to drive progress without barriers.

Specifically, our core values also include a commitment to exceed expectations, as well as embrace and drive change. Each of our franchisees embodies our brand’s core values, creating a sense of cohesion and community among our national franchise system. Yet, each franchisee also comes from different walks of life, from military veterans and former teachers to personal trainers and sales managers. Even without any fitness or business ownership experience, franchisees are able to find success and fulfillment with hard work and a commitment to our overarching values.

Inside the ‘Anti-Franchise’ Franchise

Before we award franchises, we first make sure each prospective owner is a good fit for us. We hold our core values and company culture sacred, so we only accept people we believe are hardworking and truly committed to success.

If you put in the work, our business model will give you the power to build a business you can easily expand into multiple locations. Our model is designed to multiply your wealth and help you change lives in your community through fitness.

We accomplish this by rewarding your hard work and letting you keep your profits. Most franchises scale up their franchise royalty fees so that the more revenue you make, the more money you have to send back to their headquarters. Within this traditional model, you can be the hardest working franchisee and still see little to no growth in your personal income. However, with our fair and flat royalty system, the harder you work, the more money you see going back into your own pocket. This is just one of the ways we mentor successful franchise owners.

We ensure our gym franchise owners are always passionate about becoming the best business owners, helping them cultivate, develop and foster long-lasting and loyal relationships with their clients. Our unique culture generates genuine and lasting familial relationships within the communities we serve. It’s the platform from which we continue delivering the highest quality services and operating with the utmost attention to honesty and integrity. Through world-class coaching and support, for franchisees and clients alike, we are able to help people achieve their goals and transform their lives.

Avoid smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol

Together, we are strong. During this time, let’s all join together to encourage one another and help keep our communities healthy and safe.

Fit Body Boot Camp franchisee Toni Lacey has always had a passion for helping others. Prior to becoming an owner she worked with hundreds of patients as a respiratory therapist. Fitness was not always on her radar, but after moving from Canada to Texas, Toni decided to join her first gym as an avenue to create meaningful personal connections in her new town. This is where she discovered a newfound passion for fitness and the ability to really help and connect with people.

“I have always loved helping people and making them feel better about themselves, and I really fell in love with group fitness as soon as I tried it myself,” Toni said. She had also lost 50 pounds on her fitness journey. “I just didn’t really connect the dots about owning a gym until a few years into my own fitness journey, and I was so grateful for the opportunity to help others feel the same level of achievement I did.”

Toni first heard about Fit Body Boot Camp from a longtime friend who owned a franchise, and she’d always admired the results and community with in Fit Body Boot Camp. Toni decided to merge her personal and professional interests by opening her own Fit Body Boot Camp franchise.

Managing a Business While Managing Her Health

In the midst of her journey, however, Toni was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), and she was faced with another substantial life change.

“That was a big shock and completely altered a lot of things about my life,” said Toni. “On the outside, I looked completely healthy and was even in the best physical shape of my life, but it really goes to show you that you don’t always know what people are dealing with that might be invisible to you.”

This has really helped Toni understand and connect with clients.

“I definitely had to change some aspects of my life and, as a business owner, it’s all about time and stress management, so I always had to remind myself to look after myself,” Toni said. “I have an amazing team and an amazing franchise that supports me so I am able to lean on them when I need to take a step back.”

Building a Business and Making a Difference

While successfully building her first business, Toni decided she was ready for another challenge – expanding her footprint with an additional Fit Body Boot Camp franchise. So, just a few years after opening her first gym, she took over ownership of another Fit Body Boot Camp franchise in a neighboring town.

“I just love the relationships we build with clients, and I really wanted to have an even greater impact by growing my business,” Toni said. “It’s not just about weight loss, either. At Fit Body Boot Camp, we really are about making our clients feel good about themselves, helping them build relationships and feel motivated and uplifted.”

Toni is now in remission for her MS and credits part of her progress with the positive and holistically healthy environment that surrounds her every day.

“I think having a more active and healthy lifestyle and a very rewarding business has helped me manage my symptoms and really have a generally better outlook on life,” Toni said. “The atmosphere we’ve been able to create at these gyms, and seeing people’s faces light up after a great workout makes my job that much more fulfilling.”

Toni continued, “I never thought I would be comfortable in a leadership role, much less the owner of multiple businesses, but I quickly hit my stride with Fit Body Boot Camp. They are an amazing franchise that sets you up for success.”

Toni now owns two franchises and has grown her membership to almost 400.

“The amount of satisfaction and fulfillment I receive from the business is immeasurable,” she said. “Becoming a Fit Body Boot Camp Owner is one of the best decisions I have ever made.”

Tom and Katie Hough have been together for 15 years, married for seven and have owned their Fit Body Boot camp location in Richardson, Texas for the past three. As they’ve built their lives and business together over the years, they have been each other’s support system through it all.

Tom and Katie originally worked at the same company. He was in security, and she was a project manager. However, when Tom’s brother unexpectedly passed away in 2014, Tom realized life is short and began searching for opportunities to fulfill his passion for health and fitness.

“I always wanted to be in the fitness industry, but never really had a reason to do it,” Tom said.

Seizing the Opportunity to Succeed

Initially, he began researching how to become a trainer but soon realized that owning his own gym was a more appealing route. Tom knew he wanted to provide training to groups of people, help them achieve serious results and offer nutrition to his members. During his research, he discovered Fit Body Boot Camp.

“We found Fit Body Boot Camp on a couple of YouTube videos. After talking with them and seeing the model, I thought, ‘This is exactly what I always wanted to do,’” he said.

For Tom, it was an instantaneous match made in heaven.

Collaborating to Make Dreams into Reality

While Tom was working on achieving his goals, Katie was working full time to financially support and encourage Tom’s dream.

“Tom’s not one to do something halfway, so I knew he’d done his research and this was something he wanted to do,” said Katie.

For Tom and Katie, going into this business together was always in the cards. They are each other’s biggest support system and are in it together 100 percent.

Both Katie and Tom agree that their relationship has helped them build their community.

“When we’re bringing on team members or we’re signing up new members and they can see we’re normal people, we’re in a relationship and we have similar struggles in life – and now we have a son – that’s very relatable,” explained Tom.

Two Halves Make a Whole

When it comes to delegating roles, Katie takes on planning and executing tasks thanks to her penchant for organization. Tom on the other hand, with his outgoing and energetic personality, focuses on the marketing and sales aspects of gym operations.

“Knowing each other on that deeper level allows you to play those roles out a lot stronger,” added Tom.

At the end of the day, seven years of marriage have only added more to Tom and Katie’s successful co-ownership of a Fit Body Boot Camp franchise.

For other married couples thinking about becoming franchisees, they say that being open and giving your all to one another makes your partnership stronger in the long run.

“You have to have that undying trust in one another for you to be able to give each other feedback and really be on the same page,” said Tom.

Collecting water is futile when you have a hole in your bucket. You can keep pouring water in, but most of it will flow out the hole. At some point, you will become frustrated, stop and remain thirsty.

Building up gym memberships is similar. You can sign all the members you want, but what good will that be for the gym if they keep leaving for other fitness concepts? If you keep running your gym this way, you’ll eventually go out of business.

But, at Fit Body Boot Camp, we focus on client retention. Of course, you will always want to recruit new clients, but the majority of your effort should be on keeping your current clients happy. Holding fitness challenges throughout the year is an effective way to do that. When you do, you provide incredible results and ultimately end up attracting new clients through referrals.

The team at Fit Body Boot Camp headquarters provides everything you need to run your challenge. Here’s how it works:

Happy Fit Body Boot Camp Clients Stick Around

Throughout the year, our gyms hold challenges for their clients. Some of these challenges allow non-clients to participate so they can get a feel for what being a part of the Fit Body Boot Camp community is like.

For example, The Zero Pound Challenge is an internal accountability program designed to keep current clients engaged by inspiring them not to gain weight during the holiday season. We know that the high-calorie and high-fat cookies, desserts, meals, snacks and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks served in November and December are often too tempting to pass up. Challenging people to lose weight during this time of year would be next to impossible and not very fun for clients.

However, motivating Fit Body Boot Camp clients to simply not put on weight is a more realistic and attainable goal. Clients can enjoy the holidays with all the trappings, but they’ll still have to work to make sure it doesn’t become extra weight. We’ve designed the Zero Pound Challenge to include a nutrition plan and group personal training sessions, along with regular workouts at their Fit Body Boot Camp. Clients are spurred on to attain their goal with valuable prizes.

Beyond prizes, the rewards for clients include:

no weight gain (if done right)

accomplishing a goal in a community environment they love

participating in a healthy and fun activity that doesn’t crush their holiday spirit

the ability to enjoy holiday cuisine and beverages

sharing their accomplishment with family and friends

Satisfied Clients Share the News about Our Fitness Franchise

Franchisees are also rewarded. By keeping clients engaged and happy with their results, they’re able to retain them. The satisfaction felt by clients can generate interest in the gym by non-clients, too. The word of mouth marketing you generate through satisfied clients can have a big impact on your bottom line. Consider these facts:[i]

88 percent of consumers most trust the word-of-mouth recommendations they receive from people they know

90 percent of people are more likely to trust and buy from a business recommended by a friend

Word-of-mouth marketing generates $6 trillion in consumer spending every year

Word-of-mouth marketing is more powerful than advertising

Brands that inspire high emotional reaction receive three times as much word-of-mouth marketing than brands that are less emotionally-connected

People Like to Feel Good, Have Fun and Win Prizes

Challenges that are open to the public are effective ways to attract new clients, too.[ii]

Other Fit Body Boot Camp challenges that allow the non-client public to participate along with clients, like New Year New You, Girls Night Out, 14-Day Summertime Meltdown, and more, provide a sample of the Fit Body Boot Camp experience.

Like the Zero Pound Challenge, open-to-the-public challenges include workouts, custom meal plans, recipes and prizes or parties. The challenges provide the fun, camaraderie and, most importantly, the results they would enjoy as a regular client, and provide real opportunities for franchisees to sign new clients.

When you run your Fit Body Boot Camp gym franchise this way – focus on retention first, while providing a sample to the public – your business is scalable and you may choose to open another.

Foresight may not be 20/20, but if current trends and demand are any indication, the fitness industry is positioned for impressive growth in the coming year.

One in five Americans belongs to at least one gym – a membership increase of more than 25 percent over the past decade.[i] Featuring a healthy annual growth rate and marked by constant innovation, the nearly $100 billion fitness industry represents an impressive business opportunity for savvy entrepreneurs and wellness enthusiasts.[ii]

Here are some of the trends we can expect to continue or emerge in 2020, and why these signal strong continued demand for Fit Body Boot Camp franchise owners:

Community-Driven and Group Fitness Concepts

Over the past few years, socially-driven consumers have also given rise to the growth and popularity of group fitness concepts like Fit Body Boot Camp. This trend will continue to gain traction in 2020, as members find motivation, accountability and fulfillment in community workout settings.

For many, checking into the gym just represents another chore to check off their list. For members who stick with their routine long-term, however, their health club is more than just a place to exercise – it’s a place where they’ve built a community.

In fact, nearly 60 percent of gym-goers credit social motivation as the reason they attend their gym, according to a recent International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association Member Retention report.[iii] And, members who work out in group settings drop out at significantly lower rates than those who opt for solo workouts. This figure becomes even more important in the fitness industry, where retention is the key to profitability.[iv]

Personalized Training and Nutrition Regimens

As demand for community-driven fitness concepts continues to climb, more clients will also be looking to supplement group classes with personal training. That way, they’re able to reap the benefits of group fitness, while also customizing their workout regimen to their individual needs and fitness goals.

Personal training and specialized workouts catering to each individual’s unique body composition, as well as their personal physical strengths and limitations, present the perfect solution for time-strapped, efficiency-oriented consumers.

At the same time, the heightened demand for personal training also represents an equally enticing business proposition. With personal training as a core offering, Fit Body Boot Camp franchise owners are well-positioned to capitalize on the growth of the segment. Unlike traditional personal training, the support provided by Fit Body Boot Camp coaches doesn’t just stay within the four walls of the gym. Fitness coaches follow up with clients to help them get the best rest and recovery before their next session or answer any questions they have about the program or their wellness goals. Our coaches are always available to provide individualized motivation, accountability and guidance for members, which has become a strong value-add for new and returning clients alike.

Similarly, more clients are placing greater emphasis on their dietary and nutrition needs. Just as workouts are becoming more tailored to a person’s individual body composition, their meal plans and guidelines are also becoming more individualized.

With personalized meal plan support, Fit Body Boot Camp presents an equally impactful exercise and nutrition resource for clients. Working out is important to help burn fat and tone your body, but what you eat has just as much of an impact on how quickly and effectively you stay in shape. This is why Fit Body Boot Camp members are also provided personalized diet plans based on their unique macro-nutrient needs. These customized meal plans work in tandem with members’ exercise regimens to deliver fast and sustainable weight loss results.

High-Intensity Interval Training and Science-Backed Workouts

Most consumers are looking to work smarter instead of harder when they exercise, and the idea of jogging for hours to get results is largely a paradigm of the past. From the popularity of the 7-minute workout to the rise of “bio-hacking,” the health and wellness industry has shifted in favor of efficiency.

Similarly, high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and other science-backed workouts will be strong areas for growth and innovation in 2020 and beyond. Trainers will continue looking for new ways and workouts to help clients maximize their time and get the most from each exercise. Created with efficiency in mind, HIIT workouts have claimed a top spot among fitness trends every year since 2013.[v] HIIT uses short bursts of activity to spike the metabolism and keep it running at an accelerated rate for up to 36 hours after the workout. Because HIIT focuses on charging up the metabolism and increasing lean muscle, it’s ideal for weight loss. Lean muscle burns more than twice as many calories as stored fat, and with a higher metabolism and muscle mass, the body burns more fat automatically throughout the day.

Our signature 30-minute workout combines the research-backed training methods for HIIT and Active Rest Training – some of the most efficient methods to foster effective, sustainable weight loss. These are also some of the greatest time-saving, in-demand workout methods among busy consumers. Similarly efficient as HIIT, Active Rest Training fills in the gaps between body movements with exercises targeting different muscles. This keeps the heart rate elevated while giving the muscles time to rest and recover.

In addition to elevating the heart rate and burning more calories, studies show that Active Rest Training during exercise also results in faster post-workout recovery.[vi] All of this culminates into strong fitness results for clients, which can, in turn, create compounding demand for franchisees.

Growing up, multi-unit Fit Body Boot Camp franchise owner Matt Wilber never had to worry about having enough underwear, socks, boots, a jacket or gloves. It’s safe to say, most people take owning those items for granted. That’s why Matt was saddened to learn that there were thousands of children in his Grand Rapids, Michigan, market that go without them.

But, Matt, a guy in his early 30s who owns seven Fit Body Boot Camp gyms in west Michigan, is not one to rest on his laurels. He started a charity, The Big Give, to help these kids in 2013, not long after he opened his first gym. Every year, Matt and his teams raise money for school supplies and Christmas presents. Since then, he and his teams have raised more than $420,000 and helped 1,700 kids. During the last six years, Matt has experienced an unintended consequence of his good deeds: Business is booming.

Business Investment in Community is an Obligation

“One day I was talking with one of our clients, who was a social worker, and she was discussing the need in our community. After hearing her speak, I knew I had to do something,” Matt said. “The stories that we hear of the impact that we are having drives us to want to do even more.”

For instance, as Matt was shopping for the kids in his communities this year, a woman approached and thanked him. Matt and his teams helped her out two years ago when she was out of work and couldn’t afford to buy Christmas gifts for her two sons. But, thanks to The Big Give, the woman told Matt, her sons enjoyed a wonderful gift-filled holiday.

Each year, with every new Fit Body Boot Camp that Matt opens, donations increase dramatically. In that first year, after being open less than three months, he and his two team members raised $3,400 from their 200 clients. In subsequent years, the amount has steadily risen. During the 2019 holiday season, Matt’s 5,000 clients donated $160,000.

“As a local business owner, I believe we are called to serve the communities that support us,” Matt said. “If you have the ability to do something to help others you should.”

Team Members are Part of Something Bigger than a Fitness Business

This holiday season, Matt and members from his seven Fit Body Boot Camp teams went Christmas shopping for 700 kids with the funds they raised. The buy-in from all 65 team members at Matt’s gyms is easy to obtain. After all, the mission of the charitable efforts is the same as Fit Body Boot Camp’s mission – to change lives every day.

Being a good neighbor inside and outside the walls of every Fit Body Boot Camp gym is a guiding part of the brand’s DNA that Matt takes seriously. His teams do, too, as each member takes ownership of the back-to-school and holiday fundraisers.

“This is as much their charity as it is mine,” Matt said. “They go above and beyond to drive donations. They are the ones motivating and encouraging clients to donate, they are the ones creating relationships with local businesses. They are the ones working with the social workers and the stores and coordinating everything. Giving back is at the foundation of our business, and talking about how we give back starts with the interview process. If that isn’t something you value, most likely you won’t want to work with our company. The truth is, everyone wants to be a part of something bigger than themselves, and this is something that is bigger than anyone.”

What Happens when the Community Notices you Care

Matt’s gyms are packed with clients. He attributes his large and growing client base to the fact that every one of his Fit Body Boot Camp gyms is a prominent member of their community, genuinely working to make it a better place to live.

“If you want to succeed, you need to be more than a gym and more than just a good workout,” Matt said. “So many of our clients say that they are proud to be a part of our gym because of how much we give back to our community. We work hard to be the best 30 minutes of our client’s day – the product and service you provide to your clients must be great. But, when you combine that with being known for giving back to your community, you can create something that is truly special.”

Recently the VP of Fit Body Boot Camp franchises, Bryce Henson, was featured on NASM, The National Academy of Sports Medicine.

Bryce Henson Featured Video With NASM

Read the Transcript of the Video Below

My name is Bryce Henson and I’m a part of the fit body boot camp franchise. I was certified as a personal trainer through NASM back in 2009 and since 2018 have been acting as the vice president of our corporate office in Chino Hills, California. I got into fitness because when I moved from the Midwest to Southern California back in 2005.

I lacked confidence. I lack self esteem really specifically around my physique. That was about 20 pounds of fat overweight, and through the period of six months under personal training, my physique absolutely changed. My life, absolutely changed. I had a friend came up to me, started asking me about how I worked out, how I ate, and it occurred to me that the huge transformation that I went through that changed my life.

I could actually pass that on to other people. So that’s when I started group training within the fit body boot camp model, and I started delivering great results. I started building a reputation for myself, and really that’s when my role transitioned to fitness professional to train or to coach to business owner.

There was a client, she was about a hundred pounds overweight. She lacked confidence. She didn’t even look you in the eye. We ended up working together for a period of about two years, and in those two years she ended up losing a hundred pounds in. The biggest sense of satisfaction wasn’t just a hundred pounds that she lost, but it was the person that she became in the process.

The biggest piece of fulfillment is just knowing that as a fitness professional, I could change that person’s life. And that has been the catalyst and really the reason that I get out of bed early and I stay late and I’m so passionate about the fitness industry because I get to impact. I get to inspire and I get to change lives every day.

While future gym-goers psyche themselves up during the holidays for getting fit in the new year, the teams at Fit Body Boot Camp franchises are preparing for the influx of new clients.

Every year on Jan. 1, millions of Americans resolve to get in shape. They buy new workout gear, shoes and gym memberships. Gym parking lots fill up and new members occupy the once idle machines. But, it doesn’t last long. Typically, 80 percent of those well-intentioned new gym members stop showing up by mid-February.[i]

The opposite happens at Fit Body Boot Camp gyms because our franchise owners and their teams are prepared for the rush which they helped create and know how to keep new clients coming back at the start and throughout the rest of the year.

Why Fit Body Boot Camp Franchises Don’t Experience the Drop-off

New Fit Body Boot Camp clients typically don’t start showing up to the gym until later in January, after the kids go back to school and after they’ve recovered from their holiday spending hangover. Because we’re dialed into the post-holiday habits of consumers, we know they don’t start getting serious about fitness until then.

That’s why we kick off the New Year New You (NYNY) Challenge in the third week of January, which franchisees and the team at Fit Body Boot Camp headquarters began promoting in November.

The NYNY Challenge gets resolution-makers fired up to begin their fitness journey and stick with it. The step-by-step program includes unlimited workout sessions, a meal plan, custom nutrition guide, coaches to help hold participants accountable, a private support group on Facebook and the chance to win $100,000 in cash prizes at the end of the eight-week challenge.

It’s at this time Fit Body Boot Camp franchise owners start to experience the post-holiday rush while big box gyms see new members stop showing up.

The NYNY Challenge not only gets new members hooked on the workouts and the results, but it ignites word-of-mouth referrals that bring in even more clients. February and March are typically the biggest months of the year in terms of client revenue. Fit Body Boot Camp franchises can see upwards of 30-40 percent growth during this period. Fit Body Boot Camp franchise owners and their teams need to be ready for the influx of new business.

How Fit Body Boot Camp Franchise Teams Prepare

November is when we push hard to gain enrollment for the NYNY Challenge. Our content team at headquarters prepares and finalizes the resources for the challenge, as well as other programs throughout the year. Videos, nutrition guides, food lists, meal plans and advertising content are delivered by mid-December so owners have time to review and implement it with their teams by the time the NYNY Challenge starts. December and early January are used for meetings and training sessions so teams are ready to deliver superior workouts, support and service when new clients when our new-client rush starts in the third week of January.

Additionally, Fit Body Boot Camp provides an “Elite Training” Workshop for owners, facility leaders and coaches in November in Dallas and in early January in Phoenix, to fine-tune their leadership, coaching and training skills.

After the Rush: How Our Gyms Maintain Momentum

Although the NYNY Challenge wraps up in March, Fit Body Boot Camp gyms continue to experience significant new client growth through April along with a high retention rate. On average, Fit Body Boot Camp gyms retain 75 percent of new clients. By contrast, retention rates for big box gyms only average the mid-60 percent range, and other group fitness concepts average 73 percent.[ii]

The NYNY Challenge helps get new clients in the door, but our concept, workout structure, accountability and support keeps them coming back. Fit Body Boot Camp franchisees and their teams do an exemplary job of challenging clients to reach their full potential, coaching them through workouts and on nutrition, holding them accountable to their goals and supporting them when their fitness journey gets rough.

Ultimately, it’s the results each Fit Body Boot Camp client achieves that keeps him and her coming back. They actually experience the “new year, new you” when they feel better and look better. But that comes about when gym owners and their teams are well-prepared to help their clients.

The scales don’t always tip in our favor during the holidays. Last-minute shopping trips and countless get-togethers make carving out time for the gym challenging, and avoiding decadent seasonal treats can be just as difficult. Long story short, many people put a pause on healthy habits until the New Year.

Without a comprehensive strategy in place, like at Fit Body Boot Camp, this consumer mindset can also make it difficult for gym franchise owners to market their business during the holidays. However, our strategy helps Fit Body Boot Camp gym owners find ways to attract new clients while retaining existing ones – the keys to marketing and running a popular fitness business.

Here’s how to market your gym franchise to get the most out of the holiday season:

Keep Existing Gym Members Engaged with Holiday Contests and Competitions

The holiday season may seem like the prime time to indulge and pack on the pounds, but it also represents a significant opportunity to motivate and engage your existing clients. This will, in turn, often drive long-term retention.

Many gym owners focus their marketing efforts on attracting new clients, but the reality is that most people are not looking to join a gym during the holidays. Plus, it costs nine times as much to acquire a new client as it does to retain an existing one.[i] That’s not to say generating new leads isn’t important, but during the holiday season, your marketing focus is best left to member retention.

Introducing holiday-themed contests and competitions for existing members can be one of the best ways to boost engagement. Holding these internal contests is an effective strategy to show your appreciation for your clients while motivating them to stay fit during the holidays.

Every holiday season, Fit Body Boot Camp franchise owners host a “0 lb. Challenge” to engage clients and incentivize healthy choices during the holidays. Instead of encouraging weight loss like other seasonal, internal competitions, the “0 lb. Challenge” simply motivates clients to not gain any additional holiday weight. Because the average American gains at least one pound during the holidays, this contest was created to encourage clients to enjoy the holidays in moderation, without imposing unrealistic expectations on their fitness journey.[ii]

When clients succeed in the challenge, they’re eligible to win various prizes, such as a discounted monthly membership. This creates excitement and enthusiasm among clients while setting them up for success throughout the holidays and beyond. With the additional engagement and motivation, clients are also much more likely to continue their memberships in the New Year.

Build Interest for Your Fitness Franchise among New Clients

Gym membership rates peak during the months following December. More than 12 percent of Americans join a gym in January – a notable spike from the 8 percent on average who join during the rest of the year.[iii]

While potential new clients are distracted by festivities during the holidays, it’s the perfect time to build your e-mail list and begin generating interest among new prospects. This helps you capitalize on the seasonal spike before it even begins, so you can hit the ground running with lead generation in January.

For instance, Fit Body Boot Camp franchise owners build their e-mail lists throughout the holidays by sending prospects useful tools, such as free, downloadable holiday recipe guides and meal plans. This informative content provides value to leads while positioning Fit Body Boot Camp as a go-to resource to help jumpstart their New Year’s resolution.

Before the New Year even rolls around, interested prospects will already have Fit Body Boot Camp top-of-mind to help them achieve their fitness and wellness goals.

Support a Charitable Cause and Spark Community Involvement for Your Gym

The holiday season is the perfect time to give back to the community and support charitable causes — and effectively incorporate them into your marketing plan.

Although fundraising and community outreach are year-long initiatives at Fit Body Boot Camp, franchise owners are able to leverage peoples’ heightened generosity, awareness and support during the holidays to give back.

As part of our Charity Check-In program, franchise owners raise money every month for various philanthropies. Six will be causes supported by global organizations, and six will be causes supported by local organizations. The global organizations are selected by the headquarters team, while the local organizations are chosen by franchisees, who know their communities better than anyone else. In December, Fit Body Boot Camp franchise owners will focus support on local shelters and food banks. The ultimate goal of the program is to raise $250,000 for charitable causes over the next year.

Aside from making a positive impact on countless communities, charitable campaigns also represent a strong marketing opportunity. Each campaign is assigned similar hashtags from the Fit Body Boot Camp headquarters team. Franchisees share these hashtags with their coaches, who encourage clients to use them when they check in. In addition to social media marketing tactics, the headquarters team also provides other marketing collateral to franchise owners to boost brand awareness and garner support.

By giving back, franchise owners can engage existing members, while creating new connections and boosting brand awareness in their community.
